What was I thinking????

Of Course the success of the Relay was made even more significant by the support of Chief Doug Trussler and his Chiefs.

Not only did the Chief allow the Fire Trucks and crews to be a part of the relay , he attended on his own time and was right there as one of the 'guys'

Huge Thanks to Everyone!! All I can say is WOW!!!

What a great showing by District Fire Fighters at the Relay for Life 2008, We had over 40 members participate in the event on Saturday and that doesn’t include the family that  came out to help and support our Teams.

We really did come together as a team. from the Pancake breakfast to the Relay Warm up, the T shirt sales, Bocce, Raffle and on and on, our people were everywhere.

 (And Yes I reached my goal, thanks very much the ‘Mo’ is gone and I look like a Turtle)

Many people made a point of thanking us and mentioned how they really do appreciate our involvement.

This truly is a community event and for those that were able to stay and take part in the Luminaries’ Lap I’m sure they found it hard not to be touched by the number of Candle bags that surrounded the track. Many of those luminaries that had the names of our family and friends.

I was overwhelmed, Local 1183 and the District of North Vancouver Fire Service have a lot to be proud of!!!!

Ohh! I almost forgot… Our Grand Total Was (drum roll) $15,213.15

Many of you could not make it this year but supported the teams by donation and that was great.

And those who were not able to take part at all….. See you next year!!
